Mission to Morocco: Marrakech, Ben Guerir

Jan. 14-24, 2026: mission carried out by the P. I. Elisa Coda. The mission had two objectives. Firstly, to explore three private libraries containing uncatalogued manuscript material in various parts of the Rhamna region. Secondly, a number of exploratory discussions were held with PhD students and researchers at Mohammed VI University in Ben Guerir, with a view to assessing potential local collaborations for the ArOMa project’s research.

As a result of these meetings, the P.I. decided: a) to foresee another mission to examine additional manuscript collections both in this area and elsewhere in Morocco; b) to recruit a collaborator for the ArOMA project dedicated to building relationships with universities in the Arab world, and in particular in Morocco, for the purposes of disseminating and co-creating ArOMA’s results.
